* * “ANOTHER STEP.” Kim Wilde. MCA. The fact that Wilde’s version of “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” sounds so good says more about the enduring commerciality of the songwriting team of Holland-Dozier-Holland than it does about Wilde’s interpretive knack. She doesn’t emotionally expand upon the Supremes’ original--she just reintroduces a good song to a young audience that might not be aware of who set the stage for today’s baby-voiced singers like Wilde, Stacey Q and Madonna. Wilde is one of those made-for-MTV singers you probably need to see in order to appreciate, and “Step” contains too many robotic rock cuts that are devoid of personality. Wilde comes across best on “Brothers,” “She Hasn’t Got Time For You” and “How Do You Want My Love,” three dreamy-eyed, atmospheric ballads that allow her to exert a bit of her own personality and style.
