Hezbollah Leader Injured in Bombing
A leader of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah organization was seriously wounded Wednesday when a bomb exploded in his car in south Lebanon’s provincial capital of Sidon, police said.
A police statement said that Dr. Ibrahim Atwi, manager of the government-run hospital in Sidon, lost both legs in the explosion. It gave no further details.
Atwi, a Shia Muslim, is a Hezbollah (Party of God) leader in Sidon.
Earlier Wednesday, police said two dynamite sticks planted in a garbage heap in Syrian-policed West Beirut exploded overnight, wounding six people.
