Mexico’s Phone Service Grows 31% Since 1982

MEXICO CITY —
Telephone service to Mexicans has increased 31% since 1982, providing one telephone for about every 10 inhabitants, the government-owned telephone company said.
Emilio Carrillo Gamboa, executive director of Telefonos de Mexico, told the government newspaper El Nacional that there are 7.7 million telephones in the country of about 80 million people.
