However, the prospect of a widespread move to raise fares is expected to rest with industry leader Texas Air Corp., which in the past has aborted similar moves by refusing to go along. TWA announced last week that it would impose surcharges of $3 to $7 on all domestic one-way tickets and $8 on international tickets. TWA said the fare increases were intended to offset jet fuel prices, which it said rose more than 20% between November and April.
