Twenty-nine crew members of a cargo ship that sank in the South Pacific were reported in good condition after being picked up by a British freighter. The crew of the Iron Cumberland, which sank 30 miles off an uninhabited island in the Pitcairn group, spent more than 24 hours drifting in rough seas in two lifeboats. The Hong Kong-registered ship sank after its cargo of magnesium and lead shifted in high seas and 25-knot winds, apparently gashing two holes in the ship.
