Jimmy Wingo, a former Boy Scout convicted of killing a married couple during a Christmas Day robbery in 1982, went to his death early today in the electric chair in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, the fourth man executed by the state in nine days. Wingo, 35, of Newport, Ark., who had escaped three previous execution dates, ran out of appeals Monday on a 7-2 vote of the U.S. Supreme Court. Louisiana Gov. Edwin W. Edwards had refused to rule on Wingo’s appeal.
