The NAACP will “move expeditiously to demand that black athletes not attend Mississippi State University” if the school fails by Aug. 1 to hire at least one black assistant coach in baseball, two more in football and one more in basketball, state NAACP education chairman Morris Kinsey said.

When contacted about the university response to Kinsey’s demands, Joe Farris, director of university relations, said that Kinsey made no specific demands in a meeting with university President Donald Zacharias.
