Paul Ziffren, elected for another year as chairman of the board of the foundation charged with distributing Southern California’s share of the $90-million 1984 Olympic surplus, told other members of the 17-member governing board that he will retire from the chairmanship when the year is up. Ziffren, 73, a leading Los Angeles attorney who also was chairman of the board of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, has been involved with the Olympics for nine years.
