4 Philippine Islands Listed as Missing

MANILA —
Four islands in the central Philippines have been listed as “missing.”
The Coast Guard Service in Manila said Friday that the islands, which were uninhabited but were a sanctuary for bird life in the Visayan Sea area, may have sunk because of massive extraction of white sand by sand and gravel suppliers.
The Philippines is made up of more than 7,000 islands.
