The World : New AIDS Test Disclosed
A research team in Gothenburg, Sweden, has developed a new AIDS test that is 100% reliable and could eventually lead to the discovery of an anti-AIDS vaccine for the killer virus, a senior physician said. Anders Vahlne said that researchers have succeeded in synthetically developing a substance used in tests to detect the HIV virus, present in all victims of acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Until now, the substance, acting as an antigen, has been produced biologically, raising the possibility of introducing impurities. The test will be available on the market in about nine months, he said.
