Dorsey Breaks Record, Wins Shooting Title

Jimmy Dorsey of Spokane, Wash., broke the U.S. International Shooting Championships record in the standard pistol competition to win the national title in the event Monday at Chino.

Dorsey scored a 1,159 out of 1,200 points in the two-day match held at Prado Tiro, the site of the 1984 Olympic shooting competition. Dorsey’s score bettered the previous record of 1,150 set by Steve Reiter of Dale City, Calif., last year.

Don Nygord of La Crescenta finished second with at 1,148, with Alan Bacon of San Diego third at 1,146.
