The Canadian Olympic Assn. has ruled that five athletes who were suspended for using performance-enhancing drugs, including national hammer throw champion Harold Willers, will not be allowed to compete in the 1988 Olympics, despite the fact that two of the athletes have been reinstated by their respective sports’ governing bodies.

Willers and swimmer Levante Mady will both be allowed to compete in their world championships, but not the Summer Games. The others involved are national discus champion Rob Gray and shot putters Mike Spiritoso and Peter Dajia. All five are ineligible to apply for reinstatement until the end of 1988.
