The National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced it has selected Grumman Aerospace Corp. of Bethpage, N.Y., for its biggest space station award to date--a contract worth up to $1.24 billion over the next 11 years. “Grumman will provide the technical help to the space agency to pull the program together,” said NASA spokesman Mark Hess. Grumman estimates it will use 1,260 employees to fulfill the contract for the space station, which is expected to be orbiting Earth in the mid-1990s.
