The U.S. Army was testing a new, secret liquid “super explosive” on June 28 at a training area in West Germany when an accidental explosion killed three U.S. servicemen and wounded 12 others, the Express newspaper in Bonn reported. The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, which patrols the border between East and West Germany, this week suspended training with the blasting device that exploded prematurely during a combat engineers exercise.
