Tass Blames U.S. for Alien Deaths
Tass on Saturday blamed American business for conditions that prompt Latin Americans to enter the United States illegally, and said that U.S. authorities “hunt illegal aliens like animals.”
The Soviet press agency made the remarks in a commentary about the 18 Mexicans who were found suffocated in a railroad boxcar in Texas last week.
Tass accused the American press of ignoring “how American corporations squeeze enormous profits out of Latin American nations, entangling them in debt and dooming a vast part of their populations to misery.”
“The authorities hunt illegal aliens like animals,” Tass added. “These immigrants also suffer physical violence at the hands of right-wing extremists who claim that Hispanics ‘steal jobs from 100% Americans.’ ”
