France’s efforts to normalize relations with Iran have been suspended, External Relations Minister Jean-Bernard Raimond told French television from Amman, Jordan. He reaffirmed France’s position that Vahid Gordji, a member of the Iranian Embassy in Paris, has no diplomatic immunity and must submit to questioning by a magistrate investigating a series of bombings in Paris last September, in which 11 were killed and 162 injured. Iran has warned of serious consequences if Gordji is forced to undergo questioning. It initially responded by sealing off the French mission in Tehran, trapping 28 staffers inside, but lifted the blockade Saturday.
