Tired of Running, Texas Fugitive Turns Self In

HUNTSVILLE, Tex. —
A man who fled a state prison last month telephoned a penal official and turned himself in.
David L. Thomas, 39, escaped June 13 from the prison at Huntsville. On Sunday, he called Wayne Scott, regional director with the state Corrections Department, and said he wanted to surrender.
“He said he was tired of running, so he gave himself up,” a spokesman for the prisons system said.
