42 Panning for Gold Die in China Flood

BEIJING —
A flash flood killed 42 gold panners in the latest of a series of drowning tragedies, the China Daily reported Tuesday.
The prospectors were among several hundred swept into the Le’an River in the southern Jiangxi province last month. Unusually heavy rains have caused flooding that has claimed more than 300 lives in recent weeks, according to the newspaper.
