BELGRADE, Yugoslavia —
Mosquito exterminators wearing protective uniforms and armed with special cannons were attacked on the north Yugoslav coast by villagers who mistook them for terrorists, Tanjug news agency said today.
Villagers in the resort of Rijeka were convinced the uniformed men were out to destroy a nearby refinery and coking plant, Tanjug added.
Police had a difficult night dealing with a flood of telephone calls informing them of the unidentified intruders, it said. No casualties were reported.
