An anti-government general strike failed to materialize in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince as residents began counting their dead and repairing damage from a severe rainstorm. At least seven people died as flash floods swept away bridges and toppled trees and utility poles, making many streets impassable. The storm came just hours after the end of a march by at least 10,000 people demanding the resignation of the ruling National Government Council.
