Arafat Seeking Islamic Summit on Gulf Conflict

DHAKA, Bangladesh —
Palestine Liberation Organization Chairman Yasser Arafat on Saturday proposed an urgent meeting of Islamic leaders in an attempt to end the nearly seven-year-old war between Iran and Iraq.
Arafat, who is on a two-day visit to Bangladesh, told a news conference that Kuwait is the most suitable site for such a meeting because it holds the current chairmanship of the 46-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference.
