A ton of oil-tainted fish was caught in Alaskan waters believed unpolluted by a recent tanker spill, state officials said. They said that the fishermen were working off Kenai, in an area thought to be free of oil from a 130,000-gallon cargo leak that occurred July 2. Greg Robinson, a Coast Guard spokesman, said that 21 ships continued to work at cleaning up the slick, most of which was contained in Cook Inlet southwest of Anchorage. Alaska conservation official Doug Donegan said that sanitation agents were inspecting catches brought to all fish markets and processors in the area.
