Philippine Storm Leaves 12 Dead

MANILA —
Typhoon Thelma carried winds of more than 100 miles per hour Monday as it moved away from the Philippines, leaving at least 12 people dead, officials said.
Weathermen said Thelma, which had peak winds Sunday of 137 m.p.h., was located northeast of the northern tip of Luzon Island on Monday and was moving north.
