Potlatch reported a 16% earnings increase for its second quarter. The San Francisco-based company said earnings reflect improved results from the company’s pulp, paperboard and packaging group, which benefited from higher average prices and improved shipments. Earnings in the consumer products division, which makes private-label and generic household tissue, trailed 1986, primarily due to higher costs.
