Former Cleveland autoworker John Demjanjuk, 67, who is on trial in Jerusalem on war crimes charges, decided to reconsider his decision to fire Mark O’Connor, his chief American attorney. Demjanjuk at first appeared determined to dismiss O’Connor as a result of rivalries in his defense team but then wavered under questioning from Judge Dov Levin. The judge gave him until Monday to make up his mind. Under Israeli law, Demjanjuk is not allowed to fire his attorney without approval of the three-judge panel hearing his case.
