Three Eskimo boys have been credited with the rare feat of bagging a 10-foot polar bear near their hunting camp on Saint Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea. Clifford Apatiki, 13, said that, according to local custom, he can claim the bear because he saw it first. But as he was armed only with a shotgun, he needed the assistance of Richard Nowpakahok, 15, and Darren Slwooko, 8, who used their rifle to bring down the bear.
