Two Italian technicians who were held in Iran for more than two months on suspicion of spying arrived home Thursday and said they feel well but in need of a long vacation.

“I am going on holiday, and then on Oct. 3, I am going to get married,” said 25-year-old Alessandro Roversi.

Roversi and Bruno Bellamano, 40, were detained on April 30 near the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, where they were working at an Italian-built thermoelectric power station.

No charges were brought against them, but Iranian officials said their actions had been deemed “contrary to Iran’s security.”

The two, who denied any wrongdoing, were released Monday following intervention by Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Andreotti with senior Iranian officials.
