‘Those Evil Interests’

“Special interests” (“Those Evil Interests,” Editorial, July 6) should be re-labelled as national imperatives, necessities that President Reagan, through his hypocritical promises, is depriving the American people of. He refuses to raise taxes--how valiant!--as a means of maintaining what little support he has left.

So he taxes the poor and middle-income families by draining the funds of our educational system, health care for the poor and the basic services necessary to maintain human dignity.

And now Congress is finally trying to put a little money back into the country by adopting the 1988 Federal Budget Resolution. However, Reagan will not give in: He is going to continue to rob this country only to keep feeding that bottomless pit of a military budget that he is forever determined to maintain.
