Manville posted a 45% increase in second-quarter earnings to $41.13 million. The Denver conglomerate credited strong volume in its fiber glass unit and favorable conditions in its paper and wood businesses. In addition, efficiency improvements in many of the company’s production processes and across-the-board reductions in general and administrative expenses improved performance.
