Ex-DePaul Player Teddy Grubbs Held on Attempted Rape Charge

Teddy Grubbs, former DePaul University basketball player, was ordered held on $20,000 bond Monday on a charge of attempted rape.

Grubbs was charged with exposing himself to and attacking a 30-year-old woman who collects rent in his apartment building.

Grubbs was a starter at DePaul in 1980-81 and 1981-82 but eventually quit school.

Violence Court Associate Judge Michael Buckley Bolan set a preliminary hearing day of July 29.

Grubbs was convicted of lewd fondling and simple battery of a woman on a Chicago Transit Authority train in October of 1983 and was on probation for one year. He was charged with public indecency in June of 1986 and placed on conditional discharge for one year.
