A Palestinian political cartoonist was shot and critically wounded outside a Kuwaiti newspaper office in London, and police said that they are investigating a possible foreign political motive. Ali Naji Adhami, well known in the Arab world for his satirical work in Middle Eastern newspapers, was shot in the head by a lone assailant in the Chelsea district of London. No group claimed responsibility, and the Iranian Embassy in London denied any involvement. The British Broadcasting Corp. quoted the cartoonist’s colleagues at the Kuwaiti Al Qabas newspaper as saying that the paper has been critical of Iran’s government.
