It was a case of radio piracy on the New York Main over the weekend, when federal officials ordered a pirate AM radio station operating from a converted fishing vessel off the coast of Long Island to stop broadcasting--and were refused by the renegade radio buffs, who sporadically broadcast Sunday. The 175-foot Sarah--moored just more than five miles off Long Beach, N.Y., and thus technically outside Coast Guard jurisdiction--was boarded about 5 p.m. Saturday and the two radio buffs aboard were cited. But a man who identified himself as Jonathan (Mr. Radio) Clarke--the assistant program director for the pirate station--said the officials boarded the ship illegally, and that the men on board would continue beaming rock ‘n’ roll and comedy over the airwaves.
