A Special Olympics athlete from Ireland died of a brain hemorrhage that resulted from a seizure and fall at the international competition in South Bend, Ind., although his death was not relaed to the competition, a spokesman said.

Paul Culkin, 25, died Sunday in St. Joseph’s Medical Center after suffering the seizure last Friday.

Culkin, who was born with Down’s syndrome and was diabetic, was on his way to swimming practice, according to Michael Minich, a Special Olympics spokesman.
