North Carolina State flanker Nasrallah Worthen was suspended from the Wolfpack football team for one year despite pleading innocent to two assault charges stemming from an April scuffle, Coach Dick Sheridan said.

Worthen, who caught 41 passes for 686 yards and 4 touchdowns in 1986, will be allowed to practice with the team and be on the sidelines during games but won’t be allowed to play, Sheridan said at a news conference after Worthen pleaded innocent in Wake County District Court at Raleigh, N.C.

Last April, Sheridan said, Worthen was involved in a scuffle in Raleigh with a non-student. As the fight broke out, Sheridan said two females joined the fracas. The two females later charged Worthen with assault, Sheridan said.
