Proposals by foreign yachting syndicates to contest the America’s Cup next July, just 16 months after the last races, were rejected by the America’s Cup Defense Committee in San Diego.

The committee also announced that the dates of the America’s Cup challenge races and finals will be decided in the next three months, and that traditional 12-meter yachts will be used intead of larger boats as some foreign syndicates have proposed.
