Cycling champion Greg LeMond said he has suffered no permanent disability from a hunting accident last spring and is on the verge of signing with the Dutch-based PDM team.
LeMond, winner of the 1986 Tour de France, met with PDM officials while observing the Coors International bicycle race in Sacramento.
LeMond said he expects PDM’s current leader, Tour de France runner-up Pedro Delgado, to leave the team if he signs on.
LeMond, who was sidelined this season when he was accidentally shot in April and also by a recent appendectomy, plans to begin racing later this month in Belgium, then will compete in Australia in the fall.
