ROAD TO HOLLYWOOD

Thanks for printing Brian Morton’s letter concerning the impossible and unfair situation in Hollywood concerning nepotism (Calendar Letters, Aug. 9). I can substantiate his findings and tell you dozens of stories of my own.

I too met a brick wall head on. I’ve studied with the very best acting coaches and I’ve been told that I’m a very good actor: But how do you compete with Emilio Estevez?

Another thing. If I, Robert Wolf, attacked two old photographers and a movie extra, I’d be in jail for 10 years, no ifs, ands or buts. . . .

I’m afraid that you can make some pretty awful generalizations when you consider this topic on a national scale. Merit, true merit--that which is earned by hard work and respect--is no longer a treasured commodity. The overnight success with all the right connections skips the work but gets the gravy anyway. It can make you bitter.
