Players International Posts $44,000 Profit in Quarter

Players International said it earned $44,000, or 1 cent a share, in the first quarter ended June 30 compared to a loss of $156,000, a year earlier when it was still experiencing large start-up costs.

The Calabasas company, which operates a nationwide club for casino visitors and a travel agency, said revenue rose 135% in the quarter to $1.8 million from $765,000 a year earlier.
