Dale Earnhardt won the Busch 500 NASCAR race at Bristol International Raceway in Bristol, Tenn., averaging 90.373 m.p.h.after being slowed by eight caution flags.
Earnhardt, who already had a runaway lead in the Winston Cup point standings, led 414 of the 500 laps on Bristol’s .533-mile, high-banked oval in his Chevrolet and scored his ninth victory in 19 starts this season.
Rusty Wallace was second, 5.59 seconds behind. Ricky Rudd was third, followed by Terry Labonte and Richard Petty, the only other drivers on the lead lap.
