The Life of a Princess

I read your cover story about Princess Stephanie (“L.A.’s Royal Romance,” by Nikki Finke, July 26) and my middle-aged hackles rose along with my temperature. She’s the daughter of a beautiful, talented, well-educated actress from a fine American family and of a prince who embodies an old European culture. That she is described as a jet-setter, callow and narcissistic, who doesn’t care about others or their problems, says more about your magazine’s editorial approach than it does about her. In a subtle way, the article may be more of a put-down of our young people than it is of Princess Stephanie. If her publicists believe that she has to be portrayed as a sophomoric ninny in order to gain the attention of her American peers, they’re not saying much about our youngsters. Frank Filosa
