In defense of Mario Oliver, I met him several times when he was waiting tables at Bistango four years ago. He was always gracious and warm. Before Vertigo, he ran two other clubs in L.A., and my friends and I were his guests on several occasions. No matter where I’ve run into Mario, he has been attentive. He still is--if I can get past the doorman at Vertigo.
