A Trident 1 missile crashed short of its Atlantic Ocean target because of reentry system failure, the Navy reported. The missile, with a range of 4,600 miles, was fired from the submarine Daniel Boone, cruising submerged several miles off Cape Canaveral. The Navy did not say how far the missile traveled.
