Ready, Aim, Splat--Villagers at ‘War’

BUNOL, Spain —
Thousands of residents of the small Spanish town of Bunol fought each other in the main square today--but their only ammunition was tomatoes.
The townsfolk, divided into two teams called the uglies and the pretties, hurled 60 tons of the fruit, paid for by the town council, at each other in their 30th annual tomato war. Eighty showers were installed on the riverside for people to wash after they had cleaned up the splattered buildings.
