Subaru of America posted a loss of $49.8 million for the third quarter, contrasted with a profit of $25.4 million for the year-ago period. Sales were reported off 27% to $378.3 million. The Pennsauken, N.J.-based company said the cost of its incentive programs, coupled with higher product costs attributable to the decline of the dollar, contributed to the loss.
