Thirty people were feared drowned after a ferry capsized in the Makassar Strait between Borneo and the Celebes islands, an Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency official said Thursday.

He said the boat, carrying 40 passengers and crew and 10 tons of cargo, sank after it hit a large rock Tuesday morning, a few hours after it left Samarinda.
