Hammer thrower Bill Green, who earlier this month was stripped of his Pan American Games silver medal because of a positive drug test, will not be allowed to participate in the World Track and Field Championships starting today at Rome, his lawyer said.

Green, who lives in Torrance, was denied permission to compete by The Athletics Congress, the governing body of U.S. track and field. Green’s medal was taken away after he tested positive for an excess of the male hormone testosterone. He has questioned the validity of the test.
