Democracy in Central America

Share

Thank you for the editorial “Momentum for Peace,” Aug. 17.

Just as violence causes more violence, it looks as though peace proposals inspire other peace accords. Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega has met with Cardinal Miguel Obando y Bravo, and with all 11 opposition parties in Nicaragua. Central American presidents are cooperating in working toward peace. Will we?

The only question by now seems to be if our own government is agreeable to supporting negotiations in Central America.

There is a momentum for peace in more and more people’s minds. The conflicts in Central America can be resolved without more violence.
