In a society where gang violence is becoming more and more prevalent, drugs are rampant and our species is gradually becoming desensitized to such heinous everyday occurrences, we must take stock and prioritize our value system in order to initiate action, with the assistance of our politicians, police and local governments.

Gang violence and drugs are not to be tolerated at all. Only legislation and new laws can bring change and results.

It’s too bad that Tiequon Cox’s parents didn’t take responsibility for him in the beginning--as Ebora Alexander did for her brood. Norma Johnson, victims’ assistance coordinator, put it best in your article when she said women like Ebora Alexander, who raise their children to be productive citizens, are a “legacy to be cherished.”
