Dick Young, a New York sports writer since the 1940s, a columnist for the New York Post since 1982 and a nationally syndicated columnist for more than 20 years, died in New York at age 69, the newspaper said.
Young died at Montefiore Hospital, where he had been transferred in July after undergoing intestinal surgery at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. The cause of death wasn’t immediately released.
Young, a past president of the Baseball Writers Assn. of America, was elected to the writers wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978.
