Rookie Davey Allison won his fourth pole of the NASCAR season, earning the inside spot for Sunday’s Southern 500 at Darlington (S.C.) International Raceway.
Allison, 26, the last driver to try to qualify at the 1.366-mile oval, edged Bill Elliott for the top position with a speed of 157.232 m.p.h.
